Thursday was dry with partly cloudy skies, then on Thursday night snow returned with 1 inch of accumulation by 500am and we should see additional flakes through Friday midday with another coating to a couple of inches.

I wish I could better pinpoint the amount of snow that’s possible on Friday, though of the various factors that go into the forecast, some are positive (moisture, wind direction) and others are negative (weak energy, weak wind speeds). So the net is that we could see some more snow and maybe conditions will get softer through the day, but my confidence in the details is low.

On Saturday and Sunday, most of the time will be dry, but lingering moisture over northern Colorado will keep skies partly to mostly cloudy and maybe there will be a few flurries or snow showers as well.

On Monday and Tuesday, the moisture should finally move on and we will see sunnier skies and warmer temperatures with highs in the 30s.

Our next chance for a storm will be around Wednesday, December 23rd. This system should bring at least a few inches of snow and temperatures will become much colder with highs on Wednesday potentially in the teens.

Then we’ll look for about three days of dry weather from Thursday, December 24th through Saturday, December 27th.

The good news is that the odds are reasonably high for snow to return around Sunday, December 27th, and the week of New Years could bring a stormier weather pattern to the Rockies and fingers crossed that this translates into good snow for us here in Colorado.
