Snow Monday night and later next week

Summary

Sunday will be breezy and cooler, and then we'll look ahead to two storms next week.

Update

Saturday was another warm and sunny day, but again, overnight lows at the base are cold enough for snowmaking, so we have that going for us.

Sunday will be a cooler day with high temperatures in the upper 20s and 30s. We'll also see gusty winds higher up the mountain as a storm passes by to our north.

Coming up this week, there will be two storms.

For the first storm, snow will begin on Monday between noon and sunset, we'll see steady snow on Monday evening and overnight, and then snow showers will continue on Tuesday. I'll keep my forecast in the 2-4 inch range. The wind direction from the west is not the best wind direction for Winter Park (we like northwest and north-northwest), though there are enough adequate factors that this storm should bring at least a few inches of snow, and maybe we'll get to the higher end of the 2-4 inch range if we're lucky.

From Tuesday night through Wednesday night, we'll be in between storms. There could still be a few snow showers that hang around.

The second storm of the week will be Thursday through Friday. This storm has a lot of potential. There will be good moisture, storm energy will track near or over Colorado, the jet stream will be overhead, a cold front will move through, and the combination of all of this is getting me excited. If all the factors align, we could see 10+ inches of snow. If all the factors do not align, we could see much, much less. We need this storm to come through for us to get more terrain open.

Following the storms this week, our next chances for snow would be around December 14-16 and around December 18-20.

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!
