Best chance for powder on Wednesday morning
Summary
Monday and Tuesday morning will be dry, then we'll see snow on Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Update
We have seen little snowfall during the final three weeks of January as evident by the flatlining of our snowpack trace. But thanks to the storm cycle at the end of December and into early January, our snowpack is still near average for this time of year.
Monday will be a partly sunny day that'll be a bit cooler than Sunday with a high temperature in the 20s to low 30s. Winds will be gusty during midday and afternoon.
Tuesday will start dry, then we will have a chance for snow to begin during the afternoon and into the evening. We might see light accumulations by late in the afternoon.
Tuesday night into Wednesday morning is when we will have the best chance for snow. While the wind direction won't be ideal for a lot of snow, the storm's energy should track very close to us, and that should be enough to coax the atmosphere into producing 3-7 inches of snow. The best time to enjoy the freshest and softest snow should be on Wednesday morning. The snow quality should be fluffy thanks to the cold temperatures and slow wind speeds.
Wednesday will bring a transition from steady to showery (on-then-off) snowfall. I think most of the snow accumulation will be over by the morning, but we could see some accumulation during the midday and afternoon if we get lucky with the showers. Temperatures will be cold with a high in the single digits.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be dry. Thursday will be the coldest day with a high around 10°F and Friday and Saturday will be warmer with a high around 20°F.
Then our current low-snow weather pattern will continue into mid-February, though there will be some chances for snow…
- Around Sunday, February 6th as a weak storm slides across Colorado.
- The week of February 7-11. There could be another storm during the middle or end of this time period, but my confidence is low.
- Around February 13-15. This is far away, but some of the longer-range models are indicating a potentially stronger storm, so there's a chance.
Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!
