First day of the season

Summary

The combination of two early-season storms and snowmaking will allow the resort to open with very limited terrain on Friday, November 3.

Update

Welcome to the first day of the season!

The Gemini lift will start spinning today, Friday, November 3. That's not a lot of terrain, but it's a start:-)

During the month of October, the mountain received 5-10 inches of snow on October 12, and then another storm dropped 10-15 inches of snow on October 28-29. Our snowpack is now at about 104% of average for this date.

Coming up, we'll be in a dry weather pattern from Friday, November 3 through Tuesday, November 7. Winds will be gusty at times, though these faster winds will likely only impact the upper mountain and the continental divide just to the east of the mountain. Temperatures on the hill will be in the 30s and 40s during the day (rather warm) and will be borderline cold enough for additional snowmaking at night.

Wednesday, November 8 will be our next chance for natural snow. This is when the northern storm track will sag to the south and should deliver some flakes. At the moment, the snowfall chances appear to favor low-end totals, with maybe a few inches of accumulation.

Following the storm on November 8th, there will be additional chances for snow around November 12 and potentially around November 17th.
