A decent amount of flakes on Wednesday?

Summary

The resort is open with one lift and two trails. Coming up, we'll see a few days of dry weather, with a storm likely on Wednesday into Thursday.

Update

Friday, November 3 was opening day and the resort is spinning one lift with two trails. That's not much terrain of course, but it's a start.

Weatherwise, we are in a bland period for a few days with mostly-to-partly sunny skies, high temperatures in the 30s and 40s, and overnight lows that might be just cold enough for snowmaking.

A change in the weather will arrive late on Tuesday night or sometime earlier on Wednesday when a storm tracks over Colorado. The combination of adequate moisture and energy from the jet stream overhead should lead to at least a few inches of snow on Wednesday into Wednesday evening. There is some upside potential if the jet stream lingers a little longer and the amount of moisture is a little higher, but for now, let's go with a modest 2-5 inches and we'll try to dial in this forecast during the coming days.

Following the Wednesday/Thursday storm, temperatures will be cooler through the end of the week which will allow for more efficient snowmaking conditions.

Looking out to the longer-range forecast, there is a low-ish chance that we'll see another storm on Sunday, November 12th, and then there is a higher chance for a stormier period sometime around November 17th, plus or minus a few days.
