Searching for the next storm
Summary
We have a few open runs and will need a significant storm or two to open more terrain. When will that happen?
Update
There are four runs open as of Saturday, November 11. It's not a lot, but it's a start (to the season). And temperatures have been cold enough for snowmaking.
Weatherwise, Saturday through Wednesday will be dry. For temperatures, Saturday's highs will be in the 30s, and then Sunday through Wednesday's highs will be near or just above 40°F. Overnight lows will be cold enough for snowmaking, so we might see a small expansion of open terrain over the next few days.
Our next chances for storms will be on Thursday, November 16 with just light snow and gusty winds, on or around Saturday, November 18 with a higher chance for at least a few inches of snow, and then around Thursday, November 23rd (Thanksgiving) if a storm tracks over Colorado and does not take a detour to the east of us. All of these systems are too far into the future for us to have much confidence in detailed timing or snow amounts, but at least there are potential storms in the 10-15-day forecast window, and I'll be back with forecast updates each day.
