Winter Park Daily Snow
By Joel Gratz, Founding Meteorologist Posted 8 months ago March 21, 2024
Warm through Saturday, then back to winter
Summary
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will remain warm, with just a few flakes on Thursday night. Then snow will return on Saturday night, and we will see multiple storms during the final eight days of March and through the first four days of April.
Update
Wednesday
Wednesday was another gorgeous spring day with sunny skies and warm temperatures that rose into the 30s and low 40s.
Thursday
Thursday will remain mostly sunny and warm with a high temperature in the 30s to low 40s. On Thursday night, a fast-moving storm will bring snow showers and we may see a dusting to an inch or two of snow.
Friday
Friday will be another warm and mostly sunny day with a high temperature in the 30s to low 40s.
Saturday
Saturday will be the final warm day with highs in the 30s. We'll see more clouds as moisture streams into Colorado ahead of the next storm, and winds will be gusty with speeds at the summit reaching 30-50 mph. We may see some snow showers later in the day, but I think most of the accumulating snow will hold off until Saturday night.
Snow, Snow, Snow
From Saturday night, March 23 through about April 4 (or beyond), I expect cooler temperatures and multiple periods of snow.
The first round of snow will occur on Saturday night through Sunday and this could make Sunday's snow conditions 'dust on crust' with new powder on top of a firm/hard/scratchy base.
With multiple storms continuing through the end of March and into early April, this will likely be a situation where snow conditions soften and deepen over multiple days rather than one day being the big/deep powder day. Total snowfall during these 10+ days should be 1-2 feet or more.
I'll continue to try to figure out the timing of each storm, but we might be limited to one or two days of lead time for each system.
My next update will be Friday morning.
