Black Snow...

Cold weather continues through the weekend with light snow showers bringing very light accumulations to the mountains through Saturday.  Highs only in the 20's and lows in the teens and single digits.

Light snow showers brought an inch or two to the mountains on the West side of the lake in the past 24 hours.  With the flow coming from the East a bit more fell on the East side with 2-4 inches being reported by the resorts on the East side this morning.  We expected that and that should continue through tomorrow.

The low finally moves East Sunday and on its heels a weakening system moves in Monday.  Forecast models are in better agreement this morning for very light snowfall on Monday with maybe a coating to a couple of inches for the mountains.

The trough in the Northeast Pacific may push in closer to the West Coast by Thursday with a wetter storm pushing into Northern CA.  That could bring at least several more inches of snow to the mountains Thursday into Friday.  We will keep watching to see how much precip can push this far South.

The ridge over the next 2 weeks keeps trying to sit off the CA coast pushing the storm track North of CA.  It looks like a break next weekend and then another trough pushing into the Northeast Pacific week 2 may have a better chance of pushing storms further South into CA.  So we will watch for the possibility of stronger storms week 2 around the 10th.

Lots of family stuff planned today but it doesn't include shopping luckily.  Stay tuned...BA
