Chilly Tuesday

Summary

Southwest winds have increased, blowing 20mph with gusts to 30mph on ridge tops, so be prepared for below zero chill factors Tuesday morning. Our next system will bring around 2-4’ Thursday and Thursday night. A bigger system is expected for Sunday.

Update

Today:

At 7:30AM it’s 11 degrees in the Village and 8 degrees at the top of Andesite Mountain (at 8800’). 1” fell during Monday morning with a storm total of 4”. Skies are currently partly cloudy over Lone and Andesite Mountains.  

Today a mix of clouds and sun for the most part before completely clouding up during the later afternoon hours. Another cold December day with a high temperature of 16 degrees. Winds will be moderate out of the SW at 20mph with gusts to 30mph. Wind chills will be below zero this morning so your face mask will come in handy. 

4PM Update, radar has highlighted light snow showers developing west of the West Yellowstone area that could bring a dusting to an inch this evening/overnight Tuesday to Big Sky.    

Extended Forecast:

Wednesday looks mainly dry and sunny with seasonal high temps in the upper teens at 8500’. Another weak storm system will roll through SW Montana on Thursday with chances of 2-4” before high-pressure returns on Friday. Clouds start advancing on Saturday in advance of a Pacific storm system that looks to bring snow Saturday night through Sunday. Stay tuned.
