Model Whiplash

Summary

Hope you all had a good weekend! After posting a dismal forecast last week, models pulled a complete 180! The storm that initially looked glancing is going to be higher impact and there are some pretty strong storms in the medium range forecast!! Let's get into it.

Short Term Forecast

Should be beautiful today and into tomorrow. A storm moves into our area tomorrow evening. Unfortunatley, This isn't a very strong storm. Temps look good though, so we should be able to squeeze out a few inches.

Looking at the above map and our internal forecasts we should get about 1-2 inches at Bogus and 2-4 at Tamarack/Brundage. I don't typically forecast for Pomerelle, but they could score some nice powder with this storm as well. The storm will move out by early Wednesday and we will have great driving weather across the Snake River Plain!

Extended Forecast

Temperatures should slowly warm up through the rest of the week. By Saturday highs will be in the mid-30s in Mccall and obviously warmer here in Boise. Luckily the tranquil weather changes by Sunday (11/27) evening. Both the Euro and the GFS are showing a strong storm moving into our evening around that time frame. The GFS is a bit stronger with the low tracking down the coast and sending a bit of an AR event into our area. The Euro brings the storm in directly from the northwest. Not which way things will break right now. Lucky for us both models are still bullish with the GFS being a bit more so. Downside with GFS is obviously going to be temperatures.

Even better is that both the models are showing another storm directly on the heals of the first storm. This storm looks like it will affect us next Tuesday evening and into Wednesday (11/30). Temperatures look really good right now for this storm as well. Let's see what happens over the next few days before we look at totals. But below is the predicted snowfall total over the next 10 day from the Euro.
