Overproduction

Summary

What a heck of a storm that was for Tamarack and Brundage. 12 inches of new reported at each resort made for good riding today! We have another storm moving in tomorrow night and then a week or so of sunshine. Let's get into it!

Short Term Forecast

I am certainly pleased about the forecast that I made here and the results. I was even a bit more bullish than the models were so no complaints there! Bogus surprised a little bit on the downside. It is just so hard for storms to punch through the mountains when they come from the northwest like the back half of that storm did. They at least picked up 4-5 inches so a good refresher!

The next storm moves in tomorrow night and there are conflicting forecasts. On the one hand the NAM3k and even NAM12k are pretty bullish on it. The Euro is pretty meh though. The GFS and Canadian models are all somewhere in the middle. Looking at the short range plumes from UofU:

The models are in good agreement that we get between 4-6 inches of snow up at Tamarack and Brundage from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. I certainly think those amounts are doable. Bogus is going to be less favored but should still pick up 2-4 inches overnight. Cross your fingers that the storm overproduces!

Extended Forecast

Continued colder than average temperatures is the name of the game. Check out the 10 day temperature anomaly below:

I like seeing those temperatures running colder than average. Not a big deal in December or January since those are cold months anyways, but we definitely start needing temperature help as the sun gets higher in the sky in February and March.

Models are calling for a storm on Saturday that looks like will split and miss us north and south. The next storm of any note could be next Tuesday (2/14). As always, I am hesitant to get into any details this far out.

Get after it on Wednesday if you can! We are absolutely on the back half of the season so good powder days will be harder and harder to come by. Do them snow dances!!
