Update

Sunday was a partly-to-mostly cloudy day with afternoon high temperatures in the 30s to low 40s.

Monday’s weather will be similar to Sunday with clouds filtering the sunshine and high temperatures in the 30s to low 40s.

On Tuesday, again expect dry weather with mostly cloudy skies. As the next storm moves closer, temperatures will be a few degrees cooler with highs in the low 30s. We might see a rogue snow shower or flurry during the afternoon but most of the day should be dry.

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will be our best chance for snow. The storm will bring lots of moisture, which is a necessary ingredient for snow, but the wind direction from the south and southwest is not favorable for significant snow. The updated high-resolution forecasts continue to show the best chance for deeper snow staying south and west of the mountain. I’ll keep my forecast to 1-4 inches. Odds are for the lower end of the forecast range unless we get lucky and see a few stronger cells, or a narrow band of more intense snow over western Colorado happens to move much farther east than predicted and hit the mountain.

After Wednesday, I do not see any significant storms in the 10-day outlook, though there could be a few periods of light snow during the week of New Years. I am scouring the forecast models every day and will let you know when I see a stormier period on the horizon.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
