Update

Wednesday started dry with mostly sunny skies and then we saw a few snow showers on late Wednesday afternoon and again on Wednesday night. The snow total from these showers amounted to about 2 inches on the mid-mountain snow stake, with all of this accumulating on Wednesday night.

Now on Thursday, I am expecting a mostly dry day with partly-to-mostly cloudy skies and temperatures topping out in the mid-30s on the hill.

Friday will start with dry weather, then we’ll see hit-or-miss snow squalls on Friday afternoon with a better chance for steadier snow on Friday night. This will be another warm storm thanks to its track from the southwest, so Friday’s precipitation could fall as raindrops around the base area with snow for most of the mountain. Then colder air will move in on Friday night and precipitation should be all snow across the mountain. The multi-model average forecast is for about 6 inches of snow, but the range is really 2-12 inches thanks to the random nature of the snow squalls that move through, any of which could deliver 1-3 inches in a single hour. If you’re looking for powder, we might see a few inches by Friday afternoon, but the best chance to ski freshies will be on Saturday morning.

From Saturday midday through next Wednesday (March 18th), we should see mostly dry weather with just a few random showers possible. There will be a strong storm over the western United States during this time, but it will also stall over California for the better part of three days, which will leave us in a drier weather pattern. Then, the storm will finally move east and will bring us a good chance for snow and colder air on Thursday and Friday, March 19-20.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
