Sunday was sunny and warm with high temperatures rising into the 40s.

Today on Monday will be mostly cloudy for most of the day and this should limit warming with temperatures rising into the upper 30s to lower 40s. There is a chance for a rogue snowflake or raindrop to fall from the clouds, though most of the day will be dry. The clouds should diminish late in the afternoon or evening.

On Tuesday, we will return to sunny weather with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. This will be our last dry, sunny, and warm day before cooler weather and chances for snow return during the rest of the week and the weekend.

From Tuesday night through Thursday, multiple rounds of snow should move across all of Colorado’s mountains and we could see a few inches of accumulation during each 12-hour day or night period. I am keeping the forecast wishy-washy because I have no confidence in the exact timing and track of each round of potential snowfall and because the wind direction during this time will be from the southwest which is generally not favorable for big snow. I hope that we do see a few rounds of snow that add up to 4-8 inches, though again, I have low confidence in the details.

For Friday and Saturday, a strong storm will track near southern Colorado and the wind will blow from the east. An easterly wind direction is not a good wind direction for snowfall so I expect either light accumulations or even no accumulation.

For Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (March 14-16), the wind from the east should be replaced by a wind from the west or northwest along with a new storm tracking in from the northwest. So the weather factors during these days should be more favorable for at least some fresh snowfall.
