Bonus Snow!

Summary

On Wednesday morning, we received 6 inches of unexpected snow at mid-mountain.

Update

On Wednesday morning, I expected just a little snow, but more moisture than expected pushed north all the way to the I-70 area and helped the atmosphere produce about 6 inches of snow at mid-mountain. What a bonus!

Thursday's weather will be chilly with temperatures starting in the single digits and rising into the 20s by midday.

Starting on Friday, most days will be similar with lows in the 20s (ok for snowmaking), highs in the 30s (comfortable for riding), and partly to mostly sunny skies.

Our next chance for a storm will be around Friday, December 3, but the latest forecast models are trending toward the storm taking a more northern track with less (or no) snow for us. Boo.

The broader weather picture isn't what we'd like to see heading into December as there are no major storms or stormy periods on the horizon. With the low sun angle of December, most of the snow that we have on the ground will stick around, and snowmaking will be able to add to the base in spots, but we could really use a stormy week or two to open much more of the mountain, and I don't see a stormy period happening during the next 10+ days.

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!

And Happy Thanksgiving!
