Copper Mountain Daily Snow

Update
Copper received snow all day on Saturday with a time of more intense snowfall early on Saturday evening. The storm total was 4 inches, which was lower than I hoped. The best setup for snow at Copper is a wind direction from the northwest with cooling temperatures, and Saturday's storm brought a wind direction from the west with steady or slightly increasing temperatures. Thus the total snowfall wasn't as high as I hoped, and I will remember this storm setup and adjust future forecasts accordingly.
Also, I hope that you were not caught in the closure of I-70 on Saturday evening. This road closure often happens when we get intense snowfall and gusty winds (which reached 70-80mph). Keep playing it safe and try to get off the road before the heavy snow as it is no fun to be stuck in your car after a wonderful day of skiing fresh powder!
Looking ahead, we will see dry weather on Sunday, then the next storm will bring snow from Sunday night through Monday afternoon. Like the last storm, this system will bring a wind from the west with temperatures that hold steady or rise slightly, so I am keeping my forecast on the reasonable side with 2-4 inches by the time you wake up on Christmas morning, and another 2-4 inches during the day on Monday, with perhaps a few flakes sticking around early Monday evening. Enjoy this perfectly-timed storm to bring snow on Christmas;-)
Following this system, I think the storm track will push about 200 miles to the north, and this means that December 26 through about January 2 should be on the drier side. It is possible that a storm might drop south into Colorado during these days, though, so stay tuned for daily updates. Also, the storm track should shift south again as we get into early January, so I have confidence that the snow will return.
