Europe Daily Snow
By Luke Stone, Forecaster Posted 1 year ago February 14, 2023
Dry, Dry, and More Dry, with Only Light Snow On the Horizon
Summary
Most of Europe looks dry over the next 10 days, with any significant snow staying north in Norway and Sweden. A few rounds of light snow are expected, but still no signs of anything big. This will be a quick post as I'm in the air and on a chase.
Short Term Forecast
Forecast for Tuesday 2/14 - Thursday 2/16
The middle part of this week should stay dry, while temperatures continue to remain warm on the mountains. Expected highs well above normal and a good amount of sunshine.
Forecast for Friday 2/17 - Monday 2/20
On Friday afternoon, and again Saturday night through Monday afternoon, the Alps will see some light snow. Accumulations will be mainly confined to the Austrian Alps, especially the eastern side, where 15-30 cms could pile up over the four days. Otherwise, just some light snow with a few cms here and there.
Scandinavian Snow
First, we will see heavy snow continue over northern Norway and Sweden through Tuesday night, tapering to flurries by Wednesday morning. Another round of snow begins Wednesday night, and continues on and off for the next week or so, with very heavy accumulations across much of Norway and Sweden.
Extended Forecast
Outlook for Tuesday 2/21 - Saturday 2/25
The next chance for snow looks to arrive around the 24th. The long range data is pointing to stormy weather during this time, but the timing, strength, and location aren't solidified at all. At best, I would say there's a chance for some more light snow during that time, and hopefully things look deeper as we get closer.
