4-6" fresh snow Friday for bonus wknd at Silver and Bogus

Summary

Bogus Basin got 10" of new cold snow Tuesday, and then we had sunshine Wednesday for some great backcountry turns. Silver Mountain got 5" on Tuesday, and there's a quick-hitting storm coming Friday that'll drop another 4". Mostly cloudy skies are expected Saturday for Silver's reopening and Leadman triathlon. Bogus will get 3-6" on Friday when it reopens for a 3-day wknd, and all sunshine Sat.

Short Term Forecast

Bogus GM Brad Wilson shreds new *pow* in an untouched field of snow with friend John Poole taking the pics. I saw Brad at an all-day meeting on Tuesday, and he wasted no time getting out to ski the new snow on Wednesday morning with full sun. I'm sure there were quite a few others up there hiking for their turns on Wed.

A Low trough has been dishing up the new snow this week with winter-like conditions and cool temps. It'll be mostly sunny on Thursday at Bogus with a high of 34 degrees before the next storm comes early Friday after midnight with 2-4" expected by 9 a.m. Another 1-2" of new snow will fall before noon, and skies could begin to clear off by evening.

All sunshine is forecast Saturday at Bogus with a high of 42. Sunday looks like a mixed bag with another round of precipitation moving in, but it'll be a warmer storm with snow levels rising to 7,000 feet by mid-afternoon. High of 50 degrees.

At Silver, there's 100% chance of snow on Friday with a high of 30 degrees. A quick-hitting storm will come through on Friday dropping up to 4" of new snow. So there will be some freshies when Silver reopens on Saturday-Sunday for a bonus weekend. Cloudy skies are forecast Saturday with a 30 percent chance of snow before 11 a.m. High 36 degrees. Mostly dry day for the Leadman triathlon.

On Sunday, another storm system moves through with a 70 percent chance of snow. High of 38 degrees. The day will start with snow and by 2 p.m., it's expected to transition to rain/snow mix. Get out early in the day!

Extended Forecast

Next week, the weather is expected to warm up and dry out. I'm not seeing any significant snow in the forecast next week. Warmer temps in the 40s to 50s are expected. A big High Pressure system will be positioned over Western Canada, Idaho and the Pacific NW by next weekend.

Thanks for reading! My next forecast will be next Tuesday.
