Warming and Storming
Summary
Winter will resume in earnest this week with a wavetrain of high elevation snow headed for Idaho. Several cycles will roll through, which makes it challenging in terms of back-and-forth temperatures. That means we will see some rain at mid-slope and below, while our ridges will score 1 to 2 feet of new snow by Friday. I'm still anticipating a break for next weekend, which will be a great time to enjoy the new snow. Backcountry enthusiasts should heed caution from the avalanche forecasters as this new snowpack will rest on a persistent slab that is unstable.
