Finally...a change back to Winter
Summary
Sunday night I was bar-b-que’ing at 7:30 and it was 60 degrees at my house in Missoula! For almost a week, all of Montana’s mountain regions have been stuck in a warm southwest flow of near record high temperatures and periods of rain. Late last night a cold front finally arrived and brought snow showers (some heavy) and temps back down to seasonable norms . It was nice to see that Lookout Pass measured 6” this morning, Big Sky 4” (mid-mountain), Discovery and Bridger Bowl 2”. This front is a fast mover and should be out of the area by Monday night. The next system arrives Tues/Weds and looks to be quite similar with light snow accumulations. The weather models have been challenged with a variety of scenarios for next weekend but it does look that much colder temperatures will be felt across the Northern Rockies. Snow is also a part of most models but we need to see what develops during the next few days before speculating.
