Active April

Summary

The snow machine is far from quieting down as storms continue to march into the West through at least the middle of April. The top powder destinations to target this week will be Alta/Snowbird, Snowbasin, Squaw Alpine, Jackson Hole, and Aspen Snowmass.

Short Term Forecast

Let's get started with the deepest reports from the Collective Resorts over the past 5 days.

Deepest 5-Day Totals

Alta: 23 inches

Snowbird: 23 inches

Snowbasin: 21 inches

Squaw Valley: 20 inches

Alpine Meadows: 19 inches

This Week

This season came in like a lion for most locations and it will end with a roar as an active pattern continues through the week of April 1st and into at least the middle of April!

Following a fairly quiet Monday, the snow machine will ramp back up across the Intermountain West as we head into Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will be on the warmer side but a bucket of moisture will be streaming into numerous Collective Destinations.

Keep an eye on more of the DEEP for Alta/Snowbird and Snowbasin in Utah, along with Jackson Hole and Big Sky in the Northern Rockies. Other areas along the spine of the Rockies will also see a solid refresh. Aspen Snowmass should be nice on Thursday morning, as well as Sun Valley.

Remember that conditions will be crunchy during the morning but the higher sun angle and warmer temps will soften conditions up to "spring surfing" during the afternoon.

Extended Forecast

Upcoming Weekend & Next Week

We'll then turn to California for yet another strong storm on Friday, April 5th and Saturday, April 6th. Storm skiing will be the game on Saturday but Sunday, April 7th should be a fun time to enjoy the goods.

Further east, the storm in California will continue its march and deliver another refresh to many locations around Sunday, April 7th. This is closing day at Jackson Hole so it could end with a bang in the Tetons!

Looking ahead to the week of April 8th, the storm train won't slow down as multiple rounds of snow will continue to push through and into many Collective Destinations. Bring it on!

As always, stay tuned to the 1-10 day forecasts for all of the Mountain Collective destinations and our team of local forecasters for the latest updates.

Thanks for reading and look for my next update on Monday, April 8th.
