The DEEP returns to California

Summary

The deepest totals for the final week of March will target the California destinations from Tuesday through Thursday. The storm train will then push through Utah, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado with the goods on Thursday and Friday. Quiet over the weekend and into early next week ahead of another western storm around Wednesday, April 3rd.

Short Term Forecast

Let's get started with the deepest reports from the Collective Resorts over the past 5 days.

Deepest 5-Day Totals

Snowbasin: 24 inches

Snowbird: 21 inches

Alta: 20 inches

Sugarbush: 14 inches

Snowmass: 12 inches

This Week

The action is ramping back up across the Collective Destinations as we close out March and look ahead to spring skiing in April. The Utah destinations received sneaky good totals over the weekend and they will be back in the flow later this week.

But first, California will be back in the spotlight from Tuesday, March 26th through Thursday, March 28th as multiple rounds of snow target Mammoth and Squaw Alpine. The first wave will arrive on Monday night and into Tuesday morning. The main event will then arrive on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning and continue through Thursday. In total, look for 1-3 FEET and excellent conditions in the Sierra.

Further west, we'll be watching for the storm from California to push into the Intermountain West and target Utah, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado from Wednesday night through Friday.

If you're looking for a potential chase later this week, keep an eye on Big Sky for Thursday, along with Alta/Snowbird, Jackson Hole, and Aspen Snowmass for Friday, March 29th.

Extended Forecast

Upcoming Weekend & Next Week

Quieter conditions will then settle for the final two days of March and into the first week of April. There should still be plenty of leftovers on Saturday and into Sunday across many of the destinations but remember that as we flip the calendar into April, the higher sun angle will begin to have a big impact on snow conditions.

Looking further ahead, we'll need to turn to Wednesday, April 3rd and Thursday, April 4th for another round of snow to target the Western US. Numerous destinations will begin to shut down their lifts in April so enjoy it while you still can!

As always, stay tuned to the 1-10 day forecasts for all of the Mountain Collective destinations and our team of local forecasters for the latest updates.

Thanks for reading and look for my next update on Monday, April 1st.
