The storm train will finally drop further south into the Western United States over the next 5 days as multiple storms target the Intermountian West and along the West Coast.

The first storm will arrive on Friday and into Saturday, with healthy totals liming up for Alta/Snowbird and lighter amounts of Aspen Snowmass. The wind direction will be out of the southwest, which isn't ideal for these locations, but strong pulses of energy will overcome this to deliver 4-8 inches for Aspen Snowmass and 12-18 inches for Alta/Snowbird.

Target Alta/Snowbird on Saturday and either Aspen Snowmass or Taos Ski Valley on Sunday.

Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole will also be in the mix over the weekend of January 22/23/24 but lighter amounts on Friday and Saturday, with the best turns likely on Friday.

Extended Forecast

For the week of January 25th, our focus will shift to the West Coast as California gets in on the action.

We'll be tracking the first storm on Sunday and into Monday, followed by additional chances for healthy totals around Tuesday (1/26) and another around Friday, January 29th. This likely won't be a classic Sierra hammer for snow totals at Squaw Alpine and Mammoth but a much needed refresh.

As always, stay up-to-date with our team of local forecasters. They will provide you with excellent local analysis and really help you dial in the details with updates every morning.
