Bluebird Day With Rain On The Horizon

Summary

Clear conditions on the slopes for Thursday. Some resorts saw new snowfall on Wednesday night, check below for details. Rain and windy conditions in store for the weekend.

Short Term Forecast

Good morning skiers and riders, we’re starting the day on a chilly note, making for a busy day for the snowmakers. Conditions will be mostly clear but colder on Thursday with temperatures ranging from the lower 20’s and teens across the higher elevations. Watch for upsloping snow showers at times, especially at resorts like Jay Peak. There will be wind from the Northwest pumping in cooler air from the north, so you’ll want to keep warm with plenty of layers.

Bluebird skies at Sugarloaf today. These conditions are indicative of what to expect at resorts across the region:

It'll be another great day on the slopes Thursday after a fresh dusting of snow coated the region Wednesday night. If you’re out on the slopes expect machine groomed conditions across most of the terrain as most mountains have used the recent blast of cold air to fire their snow guns.

Friday brings the next chance for some freshies as a storm begins to push into the area. We’re expecting 1-3” of new snow, especially at resorts like Cannon and Killington in southern New Hampshire and Vermont.

Extended Forecast

Expect some wrap around snow showers to greet the slopes on Sunday morning. While the light pick up of snow will be great, the real story on Sunday is the winds. With the departure of Saturday’s storm, winds will ramp up drastically in the region. Wind speeds in the higher elevations will increase to 35-50 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph! Expect serious wind delays on Sunday if you’re going to head out. Coupled with wind chills, it's going to be downright blustery on the slopes. Make sure to plan accordingly if you’re heading out.

That’s all we have for this forecast, thank you as always for reading. We’ve got plenty of weather happening over the next few days, so make sure to stay updated with us. Have a great day on the slopes, everyone.
