The Snow's Not Done Yet

Summary

More snow is on the way for Tuesday for northern resorts. Snow showers may linger into Wednesday. Things stay unsettled through the rest of the week, with more chances for snow as well as the chance of rain late in the week.

Details

It's not unusual for winter to linger into April, especially in the northern reaches of New England. However, I think that the relentless nature of this past winter is making this spring feel, well, not very spring-like. Winter's grip will continue to be slow to loosen its grip on northern resorts in the region. Yet another storm moves in for late Monday and into Tuesday. This storm will produce a swath of accumulating snowfall across the northern part of the region. The White Mountains will be the dividing line, with the higher elevations likely to be the places to be for accumulating snow...and coincidentally also the resorts that happen to still be operating.Western Maine will also get in on the action, with the aforementioned resorts likely seeing 3-6 inches of high density snow. Some of the model data is hinting at the possibility of more than that, but at this point I don't see that happening.

Some snow showers may linger in the higher elevations on Wednesday, but I don't expect much additional accumulation.

Long Range

The rest of the week will remain unsettled and generally cool for this time of year. Precipitation is likely again around Thursday with snow possible again in the north. Then for the Friday/Saturday time-frame we are looking at even more precip, although this particular storm is looking rather warm at this point in time.
