New England Daily Snow
By Plymouth State, Forecasters Posted 7 years ago November 28, 2016
Summary
Good morning everyone. As we continue to move towards the heart of the New England ski season, several mountains have been opened to the public on a weekly basis. Many of the open resorts are reporting anywhere from 6-10 inches of snow-pack at mountain bases to 20-30 inches towards mountain peaks. Lately, daily temperatures above freezing and periodic rain have kept snow on the mountains dense and soft. Below freezing temperatures overnight have allowed many of the resorts in northern New England to make enough snow to provide quality runs on select trails at each mountain. The week ahead will be a battle between snow makers and mother nature as a large quantity of rain is expected in New England in association with two separate low pressure systems. The expected rainfall will have the potential to significantly thin ski surfaces near mountain bases in the Northeast. Resorts at the higher elevations will have the chance to replace snow melted by rain with man-made snow as overnight temperatures are expected to be near freezing throughout the week. There is also the opportunity for trails towards certain mountain peaks to see some additional snowfall on Tuesday and Thursday night.
