Bluebird closing day for Pajarito and Sipapu!

Summary

Sunday will be a phenomenal spring closing day for Sipapu and Pajarito. Get at it early for the best snow conditions before the slushfest in the afternoon. On Monday into Tuesday, a storm to our north will lower temperatures and we could see a dusting of snow in the northern mountains. The storm track for the next 10 days is expected to miss us to the north and rapid snowmelt will continue.

Short Term Forecast

The sun rises Sunday from the Sandia Peak cam on this final day of lift-accessed skiing and riding in the Land of Enchantment.

Pajarito and Sipapu celebrate their closing day on Sunday, April 14th as the last two standing in New Mexico's lift-accessed 2023-2024 season.

The Pajarito cam shows spectacular bluebird skies early Sunday where temperatures will be in the 40's the first half of the day and warm up to the 50's by afternoon.

Sipapu could warm up to the 60s being a bit lower in elevation.

Groomers will ski fantastic at Pajarito and Sipapu first thing Sunday morning!

As conditions warm up during the day, snow will get slushy, and keep an eye out for those tricky sticky spots on the catwalks!

Don't forget your sunglasses, sunscreen, and short-sleeved shirts (and shorts!) for the ápres festivities as you enjoy a heaping plate of green chile cheese fries or smothered burrito on the south-facing decks at Pajarito and Sipapu.

Storm crossing to our north Monday

A storm will miss us to the north on Monday but temperatures will drop 15 to 20 degrees Monday into Tuesday and we could see some light snow possible in the northern mountains.

Extended Forecast

Several storms will pass to our north in the next 10 days. Unfortunately, most precipitation will miss New Mexico.

In the next few days, I will devote a post to the status of El Niño, any transition to La Niña, and what the summer monsoon season might have in store.

Then I will post a final season wrap-up.

Enjoy the epic spring closing day conditions at Pajarito and Sipapu.
