Sunday & Monday powder days

Summary

Friday will be the last day of sunshine in this current run of clear skies. There will be some high clouds at times later in the day with fabulous groomers. Saturday will see a weak system with a little light snow. More significant snowfall will fall on Sunday into early Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday will see sunshine at times, with high-pressure building into the NW.

Short Term Forecast

Chilly temperatures will start the day on Friday, however, sunshine will prevail much of the day. By days end clouds will creep into the sky. The snow is fantastic, with near-perfect groomers and excellent off-piste. The snow has a chalky feel off-piste – really nice! I was up at Crystal on Thursday and the snow was as good as it gets, plus wonderful sunshine. Overnight Friday into Saturday will see a minor weather system move in and weaken. Saturday expect a trace of snowfall, otherwise partly sunny skies. A more vigorous weather system will move in for Sunday and Monday with snow all day on Sunday (2-5”) and snowfall continuing Sunday night into Monday with 6-12” new Monday morning – it’s a powder day. There will be partial clearing on Monday afternoon.

Extended Forecast

For Tuesday and the rest of the week, there will be lots of sunshine and like this week, the groomers will be fantastic and the off-piste excellent. You should favor the north-facing slopes off-piste, with the cold keeping the snow in better shape. By afternoon the south-facing will start to soften up in the sunshine.
