A weather system Friday into early Saturday will produce 3-9” of snow, with the snow levels near 3000ft – 3500ft. I like the skiing Saturday, with new snow falling into Sunday and the snow level dropping to 1000 feet on Sunday, as very cold air starts an invasion into the Pacific NW. The cold air has far less moisture, but may produce some lowland (Seattle & Vancouver) snow Sunday or Monday, but it will be minor.

It will be very cold at all the ski areas Monday through Wednesday. Ya wanna really bundle up. But the snow should stay well preserved (ya know, squeaky) and the groomers will be very good! On Wednesday and Thursday and a new storm comes in with, what’s called overriding precip. That happens when milder, moist air rides on top of cold air in place. It can produce some major snowfall and that is what I expect. This will raise the snow level from near sea level to about 1000-2000ft…still plenty low and a bit more civilized for playing outdoors in the mountains.

After that expect more unsettled weather as the forecast is for cool and snowy for the rest of the month. We have La Nina and that means NW cool, snowy mojo going! From the Climate Predication Center, this is what we like to see....

Check websites to see who’s open and how much of the mountain is open. Many new areas will be opening up and /or expanding terrain as these new storms move in.
