New snow and lower snow levels

Summary

A weather front is moving through early Wednesday morning, with low snow levels (2500 ft – 3000 ft). This will mean new snow on the lower slopes. Not a lot of snow ( 24 hrs: 2-5”), but every little bit helps. Upper slopes will get 3 - 10”.

Short Term Forecast

Snow will taper off late Wednesday into early Thursday. Below is it the forecasted 24 hr snowfall ending Thursday morning. Notice below, the most snow is along the Cascades of Washington and Oregon. Looks like Hood and Bachelor will get some respectable snowfall from this system (5-9”).

Extended Forecast

By Friday and Saturday, a new weather system moves in, but the snow level creeps upward. Dang. Not too high, in the 3000-4000ft. range. The mid and upper slopes will continue to get snow, but the lower slopes are where we need the accumulation. The good news is Sunday the snow level plunges to 1,500 ft as a cold front draws chilly air in from the northeast. This will be great for snowfall, especially on the lower slopes. Expect some very chilly air early next week.
