Seasonal Weekend, Snow Showers Monday...

Summary

A few snow showers are possible early Saturday morning, then partly sunny. Mostly sunny with increasing winds Sunday and seasonal temperatures. Monday a weak system will bring some snow showers later in the day. After a break Tue-Wed, a stronger storm is possible for Thursday - Friday.

Update

The Weekend:

A quick-moving front early Saturday could bring a few snow showers. Then the sun comes out with highs into the 40s.

Sunday we expect mostly sunny skies with highs into the 40s. Ridgetop winds increasing from the west with gusts up to 50+ mph during the afternoon.

Monday System:

The latest forecast model runs show snow showers moving in during the day on Monday and ending Monday evening. Snow levels drop below the base at the start. High temperatures drop into the 30s at the base and 20s up top.

Ridgetop winds from the southwest gusting up to 70+ mph at times, possibly affecting upper mountain lift operations and making it feel even colder. We are only expecting a dusting up to 2 inches of new snow by Monday night.

Tuesday - Wednesday:

Mostly sunny with lighter winds but continued cold for Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs into the 30s at the base and 20s up top.

Long-Range:

Thursday into next Friday the 2nd we are tracking another storm for the northern Sierra. Again, the track of this system will determine how wet/snowy it is. We will continue to watch the trends on this storm as we get closer.

A 3rd system is possible around Saturday the 3rd that may also track down the coast with similar forecasting headaches.

We may transition into a drier pattern for at least a few days starting around Sunday the 4th.
