Drier with Spotty Snow Showers thru Sunday...
Summary
Partly-mostly sunny with a few scattered snow showers possible through Monday. A stronger storm moves in Monday night into Tuesday with snow showers lingering into Wednesday. We could see a drier pattern starting Thursday, with only weak systems if any showing up through the 1st week of April.
Update
Snowfall Report:
3-5 inches of new snow fell on the mountain, from the base to the upper mountain, in the past 24 hours as of 5 AM Friday. That brings the 3-day total to 8 inches, and the March total to 177 inches and counting!
Weekend Weather:
Parlty-mostly sunny skies Friday through the weekend with some scattered snow showers possible, mainly during the afternoon-evening hours. Highs in the 20s up top and 30s at the base, along with lighter winds. Only expecting a dusting-coating of new snow is expected to fall each day at best.
Monday Night - Wednesday Storm:
Partly sunny Monday with increasing clouds and winds during the afternoon. Snow moves in Monday night and the snow could be heavy at times through Tuesday. Then snow showers Tuesday night that possibly linger into Wednesday night.
Highs remain in the 20s up top and 30s at the base. Snow levels look to stay below the base throughout the storm. Ridgetop winds from the south-southwest gusting up to 40-50+mph by Monday evening and up to 80-100+ mph during the day on Tuesday. Then falling into Wednesday. Several lifts will likely be closed Tuesday.
Most of the snow is expected to fall by Tuesday night with only a dusting to an inch expected Wednesday & Wednesday night. By Thursday morning we could see total storm snowfall totals of:
- 12-18 inches at the base.
- 15-21 inches at mid-mountain elevations.
- 18-24 inches up top.
Long-Range:
The long-range models continue to trend toward high-pressure building near the West Coast by the 31st through the 1st weekend of April. We could see a few scattered snow showers Saturday night - Sunday night, but overall the forecast is looking fairly dry with nice weather for the WinterWonderGrass Festival that weekend.
Beyond the 2nd the long-range models suggest that we could trend back toward an unsettled pattern, but right now any storms passing through the region look to be weak with only a chance for light showers. We'll let you know if any stronger storms show up in April.
Great news, Thursday it was announced that the mountain will be open for the 4th of July thanks to the huge snowfall amounts we've received this winter!
