South America Daily Snow

Some of the Best Turns All Season
Summary
The latest storm brought big totals around Valle Nevado and the northern part of the central zone. Tuesday was one of the better days of the season with 30 + cm of low-density snow. Wednesday through Friday will be dry but by Friday night a storm to the south will bring some impacts to the central and southern zones. This storm will wrap up by Saturday evening with another dry stretch on the way.
Short Term Forecast
Although big totals weren't widespread with the last storm, a small area did really well and Tuesday featured great conditions at Valle Nevado, La Parva, El Colorado, and Nevados de Chillan. Below are some totals from this round of snow.
- Nevados de Chillan: 60 cm
- Valle Nevado: 48 cm
- Las Lenas: 5 - 40 cm
- Corralco: 8 cm
- Portillo: 4 cm
We dry out on Wednesday as a ridge moves over the southern part of the continent. It won't stick around long though, and another storm will approach on Friday night. With a southerly track, impacts will be limited, favoring the southern half of the central zone. The northern zone likely won't receive any precipitation. This is a fairly fast-moving storm and on the high end, I wouldn't expect more than 10 - 25 cm. An early look at snow totals is shown below.
By Sunday another ridge will move into region and park itself there through the middle of the week.
Extended Forecast
Around the middle/end of next week, the ridge will start to drift to the east allowing storms to enter the region once again. It's likely any noteworthy precipitation holds off until Friday or even Saturday though, with solid totals possible by early the following week. Beyond that, the signal is a bit unclear but I wouldn't rule out additional storms at this time.
Next update on Friday.
