South America Daily Snow

Mostly Quiet Through the Weekend
Summary
Models trended toward the drier (more northerly) solution so the northern zone will only see some light snow this week. A stronger storm will move in later in the weekend bringing decent accumulations in the central zone. More storms are expected in the middle and later part of next week but right now they look too far south for any major impacts.
Short Term Forecast
The models have come into better agreement over the last few days, and unfortunately, it's not good news for snow lovers in the north. The American and Canadian models have trended farther north with the closed low, keeping the best dynamics and heaviest snow too far north. The European model had this more northern storm track since the weekend, and it looks like it was onto something.
The timing has been pushed back a bit, with snow starting late Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Light snow will be falling on Thursday and Friday and the northern zone should see around 5 cm. If everything goes right, Las Lenas could see a bit more. Below is the latest snow forecast from the European model.
The central and southern zones will stay mostly dry during this time, while both regions will see warm temperatures and sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday.
The next system rolls in Sunday evening and should pack a much bigger punch. Snow levels will be a bit high to start but should quickly drop well below base elevations. The main thump from this storm will occur from Sunday night through Monday, with periods of light snow after that, courtesy of a few additional disturbances passing to the south.
Below is an early look at snow totals for next week's storm.
If those additional waves track a bit farther north additional accumulation after Monday could be a bit higher.
Extended Forecast
With a ridge off the coast of northern Chile, storms will continue to struggle to make it farther north. In this pattern, the central and southern zones will have additional chances for snow while the northern zone stays mostly dry.
Next update on Friday.
