Few Chances for Light Snow, Big Storm Possible Next Week
Summary
A few rounds of light snow will impact the southern part of the central zone on Friday and Sunday, but accumulations will be less than 10 cm on the high end. Around Wednesday of next week, the first in a series of stronger storms arrives.
Short Term Forecast
After some light snow this weekend, the region will dry out for the early part of next week. Around Wednesday night of next week, a stronger storm will arrive in the Andes. Several colder storms will push through the region from Wednesday night through Sunday with some big accumulations possible for the central zone. These storms look to stay a bit too far south for big totals in the northern zone, but they should get some snow out of it.
With multiple storms in the pipeline, the central zone won't see much of a break at all during this period, but it won't be snowing heavily at all times either. This series of storms could bring 30 - 60 cm at least in the central zone and look cold and windy. Below is an early look at the totals.
Extended Forecast
We could see more storms in the long-range, later next weekend and early next week. The models continue with the southerly storm track, focusing on the central zone. More on that and totals for the upcoming storm next week.
Next update on Monday.
