Snow showers, then a stronger mid-week storm
Summary
Sunday and Monday could bring snow showers with some accumulation, then a powerful storm will deliver more snow on Wednesday and Thursday.
Update
Saturday morning was fun with a storm total of 7-9 inches of denser, surfy snow. Then most of the day on Saturday and most of Saturday night was dry with just a few flurries in the air.
On Sunday and continuing through Sunday night and into Monday, the combination of lingering moisture and storm energy moving west-to-east across Colorado should result in snow showers. I have zero confidence as to the timing or intensity of these snow showers, so we might see little to no accumulation, or we could see 6+ inches of accumulation and sneaky fun conditions. I am keeping my expectations low, though I am also keeping my eye on the snow stake camera.
From Monday night through Tuesday, we have a good chance to have a short period of drier weather.
Then from Tuesday night through Friday, another strong storm will bring significant snow to Colorado. I think that Tuesday night through Wednesday evening will deliver denser, thicker snow due to warm temperatures, and we might see rain near the base area. Then from Wednesday evening through Friday morning, colder air will arrive and we should see fluffier, lighter powder. Total snowfall during this time could be 6-12+ inches with possible powder on Wednesday and Thursday, and perhaps Friday morning as well.
After that, we should see another brief break of drier weather around the weekend of March 18-19, and then snow is likely to return during the week of March 20-24.
