Next chance for snow will be closer to Christmas

Summary

A decent amount of terrain is open, though we will be in a dry weather pattern for about one week with our next chance for snow arriving closer to Christmas.

Update

On Wednesday night, a storm tracked to the south of Colorado and we saw no new snowfall (as expected).

Now on Thursday morning, skies are mostly sunny, and low clouds are covering the lower part of the mountain (this is an image from mid-mountain looking back to the west).

From Thursday, December 14 to about Thursday, December 21, we will see no snow, partly-to-mostly sunny skies, and high temperatures generally in the 30s at mid-mountain.

The next chance for snow in Colorado could be between December 22 to December 25, though early indications are that this storm will track to the south of the state and that is usually not a favorable track for us to receive a lot of snow.

Then another chance for snow in Colorado should arrive between December 27-29, and the early indication for this storm is that it could track directly through Colorado which would increase our chances for snow accumulations.

Both of these storms are beyond the 7-day forecast window, so confidence in the forecast is low, but with a week of dry weather coming up, why not look into the longer-range, right?

In the meantime, we have about 47% of trails open and our base depth is close-ish to average for this time of year, so we are doing okay, and the low sun angle of mid-December will preserve our base.
