Posting Schedule
I am traveling to ski with my family through February 2. In an attempt to spend as much time with them (and get some sleep, too!), my posts will be shorter and more to the point than normal. And I will write on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule unless it makes sense to adjust this based on the timing of upcoming storms. Finally, at the bottom of each post, I will always mention when to expect the next post. Thanks for your understanding and your support!
This Week
Monday through Friday will be dry and mostly sunny. Temperatures will be comfortable with daily highs in the mid-to-upper 20s.
The only wrinkle in the forecast will be a storm tracking far to the south of Colorado. There is a low chance that the system may drift close enough to bring some clouds and a few flakes on or around Thursday, but the higher probability is that most or all of its snowfall will stay far to the south of Steamboat.
This Weekend
Around Saturday, February 1, or Sunday, February 2, the next storm may bring snow to northern Colorado, including Steamboat. However, the latest forecast data has trended toward keeping the storm a bit farther north, which may push most of the snow just north of Colorado as well. I am keeping my snow expectations on the low side.
Longer Range
It looks like the next chance for snow could start around Wednesday, February 5, or Thursday, February 6, and will likely extend into the weekend of February 8-9. Many of the storms during the past six weeks have occurred on weekends, so this next system may be delayed so that it starts on the weekend as well. Sometimes the atmosphere sticks with a pattern for many weeks or even months!
