Update

Wednesday will be the final warm day in what has been a very warm month of March. Expect a high temperature in the 40s at the summit and in the upper 50s to low 60s at the base. We will likely see some sunshine, but most of the day will bring partly to mostly cloudy skies as moisture moves toward Colorado in advance of our next storm.

This next storm should bring showers on Thursday, and then we may see a more intense period of precipitation sometime between midday Thursday and late on Thursday night. The intensity of the precipitation hinges on the exact track of the storm, and that is still uncertain even though the system is only 24-36 hours away. My best estimate is for about 2-4 inches of snow, with snow levels dropping from mid-mountain on Thursday afternoon to about the base elevation by Friday morning.

Following this storm, we should see dry weather for most of Friday midday and afternoon, as well as Saturday. Then the next storm will bring a few inches of snow on Saturday night and Sunday, and we’ll see additional chances for storms every few days through at least April 7th.
