Steamboat Daily Snow

By Joel Gratz, Founding Meteorologist Posted 7 years ago December 18, 2017
Update
Clouds stuck around most of Sunday, and even though they did lift a bit, the summit of Steamboat stayed in the clouds until right around sunset.
Looking ahead, the weather on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be similar with partly to mostly sunny skies, low temperatures in the teens (great for snowmaking) and high temperatures in the 30s, which is comfortable skiing weather.
Then we will see snow from late Wednesday night through late Thursday night. I am going to stick with my earlier estimate for snowfall amounts of 2-4 inches. You'll likely find soft snow on Thursday and again on Friday morning.
Following the Thursday storm, we may see a brief period of dry weather on Friday, and then an Arctic cold front should drop 3-6 inches of snow from Friday night through Saturday night, so plan to ski on Saturday for your second chance of fresh snow this week.
After Saturday's snow, temperatures will be very cold on Sunday and Monday with highs potentially near or below 0F. Readings should begin to warm on Tuesday, December 26th, and then there could be additional snowfall during the last few days of December.
Thanks for reading and I'll keep you posted with daily updates!
