Be Careful Out There....
Summary
Partly cloudy and mild weather continues today with highs in the 50's. That weather will continue through Saturday. Winds above 8,000 feet will start to gust today up to 45 mph increasing to 55 mph Saturday. On Sunday winds continue to pick up with gusts to 75 mph on the mountain tops. Clouds continue to increase with a chance for rain showers arriving by late afternoon. Snow levels may be around 9000 feet. Sunday night a cold front moves through dropping snow levels to 8000 feet by 10 p.m., 7000 feet by 1 .am., and to lake level by daybreak Monday. Snow showers could continue into Monday morning before tapering off by Monday afternoon. We could see an inch or two down to lake level, with 1-9 inches on the mountains. Above 8500 feet over a foot of snow is possible on the West side of the lake. Monday and Tuesday next week we should have sun and much colder air in place with highs in the 30's on the mountains to near 40 at lake level. Another trough may drop down to our North and East Wednesday reinforcing the cooler air with highs remaining in the 40's through the end of the week, and 20's at night for good snowmaking. The weekend of the 2nd there is a storm possibly sitting near the West Coast that could bring in more rain and snow. That low may be picked up by a trough moving through the week of the 4th that could bring more snowfall to the mountains.
