Sunshine for now, more snow in 2024?

Summary

We'll close out 2023 with a few days of dry and sunny weather and light winds.

Update

Wednesday was sunny and warmer with a high temperature in the upper teens to low 20s.

And on Wednesday night, the nearly full moon made it look like daytime on the mountain.

From Thursday, December 28 to Thursday, January 4, we'll see dry and mostly sunny weather with high temperatures in the upper teens to upper 20s. There could be some flakes around December 31 or January 1, around January 3, and around January 5, but none of these storms should bring significant snowfall. We'll enjoy the sunshine and we can be thankful that the low sun angle and cool temperatures will keep the snow in decent shape.

Our next chance for a more significant storm will begin around Monday, January 8, and potentially continue through Friday, January 12. This is still nearly two weeks away, so it's far too soon to lock in a storm, but most of the longer-range forecast models agree that a stormier weather pattern will develop over the Rockies, and we can hope that this will translate into significant snow for us here in Colorado.
