Snow on Thursday night, then sunny for one week

Summary

Tuesday and Wednesday will bring clouds and a few snowflakes, Thursday into Friday could deliver steadier snow, and then we'll see dry and sunny weather from Saturday, January 27 to Thursday, February 1.

Update

Monday and Monday night delivered mostly cloudy skies with occasional snow showers and no measurable snow at mid-mountain.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Cloudy skies will continue (though I see some breaks of clear skies now on Tuesday at sunrise, so perhaps we'll sneak out morning sunshine) and high temperatures will be in the 20s to low 30s. Waves of moisture and weak storm energy will continue to move through Colorado and any of these waves could deliver a few snowflakes with light accumulation.

Thursday and Friday

Skies will remain mostly cloudy and a stronger storm will track over Colorado. The best chance for steadier snow will be from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning and we could eke out 1-5 inches of accumulation. If this happens, there might be a little soft snow to enjoy on Friday morning. Temperatures on Thursday will be in the 20s and readings on Friday will be a little cooler with a high in the upper teens.

Saturday, January 27 to Thursday, February 1

Except for a few clouds that may linger on Saturday (January 27), most of the time from Saturday to the following Thursday (February 1) will be dry, mostly sunny, and warmer with high temperatures in the 30s. If you enjoy playing in the mountains with sunny skies, good visibility, and comfortable temperatures, these will be your days!

Friday, February 2 to Monday, February 5

We should transition into a stormier weather pattern across the western U.S. during the February 2-5 timeframe. Some forecasts show that storms may initially track to the south of Colorado, but this period is still 10+ days into the future, and forecast skill around the details of storms is very low at that lead time, so we will watch and wait and hope for the best.
