Significant storm with snow from Friday to Sunday

Summary

Tuesday through Thursday will be dry and warm, and then a strong storm should bring a lot of snow from Thursday night through Sunday.

Update

Monday

Monday started with high clouds covering the sky, and these clouds finally broke by mid-morning leaving most of the day to be sunny and warm with a high temperature from the mid-to-upper-30s.

Tuesday & Wednesday

Both Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny and warm with high temperatures in the mid-30s to low-40s. With a soft/moist snow surface during the day and cooler overnight temperatures, expect some areas of crunchy snow each morning, softening by late morning.

Thursday

Thursday will start with sunshine, then clouds will filter the sun during the afternoon. The high temperature should be in the 30s to low 40s, just a few degrees cooler than Wednesday.

Thursday night to Sunday

From Thursday night to Friday afternoon, the first part of the storm should drop 2-6 inches of snow. With a non-ideal wind direction, I expect snow totals to remain at this lower range.

From Friday night to Sunday morning, the second part of the storm should drop 8-16 inches of snow. With a favorable wind direction, I have higher confidence that snowfall during this time will be significant and that Saturday will be a powder day with the possibility for additional snow on Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Wind speeds will NOT be that strong, so this should be a more comfortable storm to enjoy compared to the last storm cycle.

Longer Range

We will likely see dry weather on Monday and Tuesday (February 5-6), and another storm should deliver multiple days of snow to Colorado between late Tuesday, February 6, and Saturday, February 10.

My next update will be on Wednesday morning.
