Still looking forward to powder Friday to Sunday

Summary

Wednesday will be sunny, Thursday will be cloudier, Friday will bring some snow, and then Saturday and Sunday should be powder days.

Update

Tuesday

Tuesday was a picture-perfect day with blue skies, light winds, warm temperatures, and soft, springlike snow by the afternoon.

Wednesday

Wednesday will also be sunny and warm with a high temperature in the upper-30s to mid-40s. Expect some areas of crunchy snow in the morning with softening by midday.

Thursday

Thursday will start with sunshine, then clouds will filter the sun during the afternoon and we might even see a quick shower. The high temperature should be in the 30s to low 40s, just a few degrees cooler than Wednesday.

Thursday Night & Friday

The first part of the storm will move into Colorado and we should receive 2-6+ inches of snow from Thursday night to Friday afternoon. This first part of the storm will bring banded/showery snowfall which could hit or miss the mountain, so I am keeping my expectations low with the acknowledgment that if we do see some of the more intense showers, snow amounts could surprise us on the high side.

Saturday & Sunday

We should see steadier snow with a favorable wind direction, starting late Friday night or Saturday morning, and continuing through Saturday evening or even Sunday morning.

Total snowfall during the weekend should be 6-12+ inches, and the best powder will likely be during the day on Saturday and potentially also on Sunday morning.

Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will be in the upper teens to low 20s, and wind speeds will not be that fast, so the weather will be more comfortable compared to the storm cycle in mid-January which brought very cold temperatures and fast winds.

Longer Range

We will likely see dry weather on Monday and Tuesday (February 5-6), then the next storm should deliver multiple days of snow to Colorado between Wednesday, February 7, and Saturday, February 10. At the moment, it appears that snowfall from this system will favor the southern part of Colorado, including Telluride, though this is still one week away and the details may change.

My next update will be on Thursday morning.
