A series of storms on the way

Summary

We will see a lot of snow from Tuesday night to Wednesday, with additional accumulations through Saturday night.

Update

Monday

Monday was dry with more sunshine in the morning, more clouds in the afternoon, and a high temperature in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Tuesday

Tuesday will be a transition day as the next storm approaches from the southwest. Expect mostly cloudy skies, snow showers with a few inches of accumulation, gusty ridgetop winds exceeding 50mph, and a high temperature in the upper 20s.

Wednesday

Wednesday should be a powder day with at least 3-6 inches of snow from Tuesday night, and an additional 3-6 inches of snow on Wednesday during the day. While the wind direction from the south and southwest is not a favorable direction for a lot of snow, the abundant moisture in the atmosphere and storm energy passing overhead should overwhelm the poor wind direction and lead to plenty of snow. The high temperature on Wednesday will be in the upper teens to low 20s.

Thursday

Thursday has a chance of being another powder day with 2-4 inches of snow on Wednesday night and maybe 1-4 inches on Thursday during the day. The wind direction from the southwest and west-southwest will continue to not be favorable, but again, moisture and storm energy could overwhelm the poor wind direction. The high temperature will be in the teens.

Friday

Snow may continue to accumulate on Thursday night through Friday due to lingering moisture, or snowfall could wane since we will be in between storms. I have low confidence in this forecast. The high temperature should be in the teens.

Saturday

The final storm in the series will track to the south of Colorado and we might be able to eke out 2-5 inches of snow on Saturday and Saturday night. The high temperature on Saturday will again be in the teens.

Sunday

Sunday should be sunny and dry with a high temperature in the teens. It'll be a lovely end to the weekend.

Longer Range

Monday, February 12 to Sunday, February 18 should be mostly dry, though two weak storms could bring us times of clouds and snow showers throughout the week. Then the next potential storm could arrive in Colorado sometime between Monday, February 19, and Wednesday, February 21.

My next update will be Wednesday morning.
