Snow for the rest of the week

Summary

The storm has already delivered 3-4 inches of snow by Wednesday early morning, and more snow will fall through Saturday night.

Update

Tuesday

Tuesday was a transition day as the next storm approached from the southwest. We saw clouds, a few snow showers, and gusty ridgetop winds exceeding 50mph. The high temperature was in the upper 20s.

Wednesday

Wednesday will start with a fresh 3-5 inches of snow based on what fell on Tuesday night and then the addition of more snow that accumulates between sunrise and first chair.

We should then see another 3-6 inches of snow on Wednesday during the day. While the wind direction from the south and southwest is not a favorable direction for a lot of snow, the abundant moisture in the atmosphere and storm energy passing overhead should overwhelm the poor wind direction and lead to this new snowfall. The high temperature on Wednesday will be in the upper teens to low 20s, and ridgetop winds will continue to be strong with gusts exceeding 50mph.

Thursday

Thursday has a chance of being another powder day with 2-4 inches of snow on Wednesday night and maybe a few inches on Thursday during the day. The wind direction from the southwest and west-southwest will continue to not be favorable, but again, moisture and storm energy could overwhelm the poor wind direction. The high temperature will be in the teens.

Friday

Another piece of the storm will move through southern Colorado on Thursday evening and Thursday night and we should see 2-6+ inches by Friday morning. The high temperature should be in the teens.

Saturday

The final storm in the series will track to the south of Colorado and we might be able to eke out 1-4 inches of snow on Saturday and Saturday night. The high temperature on Saturday will again be in the teens.

Sunday

Sunday should be sunny and dry with a high temperature in the teens. It'll be a lovely end to the weekend.

Longer Range

Monday, February 12 to Saturday, February 17 should be mostly dry with mostly sunny skies and maybe a few times of clouds filtering the sunshine. Then the next potential storm could arrive in Colorado sometime between Sunday, February 18, and Wednesday, February 21.

My next update will be Wednesday morning.
