Saturday
Temperatures will be warm with a high in the upper 30s to low 40s, and winds will be gusty. High clouds should filter the sunshine during the day as moisture increases ahead of our next storm.
Sunday
Sunday should be dry, and then on Sunday night, a storm to the north should push snow showers as far south as Telluride. I think snow accumulations on Sunday night will be minor, just a dusting to maybe an inch or two.
Monday
Monday will be dry and cooler with temperatures in the 20s.
Tuesday & Wednesday
The second storm of the week will bring snow from Tuesday through Wednesday night. The positive factors are a LOT of moisture and the long duration of the storm. The negative factors are warm temperatures (thicker snow) and a not-perfect wind direction from the west-southwest, though this is still a reasonably good wind direction for Telluride.
Tuesday will be snowing for most of the day with 4-8+ inches of accumulation and temperatures in the 20s. Temperatures will be rather warm, so the snow quality will be somewhat thick and dense, and the base area might see times when rain mixes in with the snow.
Tuesday night will bring an additional 4-8+ inches of snow. Again, temperatures will be rather warm, so the snow quality will be somewhat thick and dense, and we may see some raindrops at the base.
Wednesday will be the final part of the storm with another 4-8+ inches of accumulation and cooling temperatures throughout the day. Then snow should end by Wednesday night as temperatures drop into the teens and single digits.
All of this snow should total around 18-24 inches, with thicker snow on Tuesday, transitioning to fluffier snow quality on Wednesday and Wednesday night.
Thursday (Opening Day)
Opening day will occur on Thursday, November 28, immediately following this storm cycle, and it could be a glorious opening day with fresh/soft snow on the ground and clearing skis behind the storm.
Longer Range
Due to the new snow, my guess (just a guess) is that a lot of terrain will open on and just after Thanksgiving day.
Following the upcoming storm cycle, we'll likely see 1-2 weeks of dry weather from Thanksgiving through early/mid-December, so it's great that our base will be deeper before the calm weather arrives.
