Semi-quick update this Sunday night with the first decent storm on the way for Minnesota and Wisconsin.

A lot of hype coming with this storm, especially since most areas haven’t seen over an inch or two yet this winter. That being said, this storm is pretty typical for this time of year and is actually a bit on the warm side. Regardless, many areas should still see decent accumulation between mid-day Monday and Wednesday morning.

Southwestern Minnesota looks like it will get luckiest, with amounts nearing the foot mark. However, as the low slowly shifts northeast throughout the day on Tuesday, this band of higher amounts will follow the I-94 corridor in Minnesota and into Wisconsin, bringing between 5-10” of snow to many areas. Outside of the main low’s path, amounts will quickly drop off into the 1-4” range.

Later in the week, high pressure builds back into the west pushing any chance of snow north into Canada for at least the next 5 days. A dry start for the Upper Midwest so far this winter, but with temperatures falling and some snow this week, at least it will start looking like December soon.
