Pattern continues to favor Canada and Northern U.S.

Summary

A storm will bring snow to the Pacific Northwest and Northern U.S. Rockies on Friday and Saturday, then the storm track out west will shift northward into Central and Northern British Columbia. The Northeast will also remain in an active pattern with snow on Friday and again during the Monday-Wednesday timeframe.

Short Term Forecast

Northern storm track

The storm track will be most active across Canada and the Northern U.S. over the weekend and into the first half of next week. Check out the 5-day Powder Finder for Friday through Tuesday, which shows the deepest forecasts (resorts and backcountry areas) in North America.

Forecast for Fri 11/19 – Sat 11/20

Snow will favor the Northern U.S. Rockies on Friday and into early Saturday with the deepest totals expected in Idaho and Western Wyoming, while lighter snow will taper off over the Pacific Northwest. The East will also see snow showers during the day on Friday across both the Mid-Atlantic and New England.

Northern British Columbia will see a stronger storm with heavy snow expected.

Forecast for Sun 11/21 – Mon 11/22

The next storm out west will stay north of the border with heavy snow for Central and Northern BC and lighter snow for Southern BC. A storm will also bring snow to the Upper Midwest on Sunday with rain likely changing over to snow across the Mid-Atlantic and possibly New England on Monday, though there is some uncertainty regarding the Eastern forecast on Monday in terms of precipitation type and distribution.

Forecast for Tue 11/23 – Wed 11/24

An active pattern will remain in place across the East with snow or a rain/snow mix possible across New England and the Mid-Atlantic, but confidence is low regarding the storm track and snowfall potential at this time.

A storm will also move across the West during this period with a round of snow expected for the Northwest and the Rockies, and perhaps the Sierra though confidence is low for the latter.

Extended Forecast

Outlook for Thu 11/25 – Mon 11/29

The storm track will favor the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia during this period, though warmer than average temperatures could result in rain issues for some areas. New England will remain in an active pattern as well with additional snow chances expected.

Thanks so much for reading! Next update on Monday (11/22).
